Argyle House

Welcome to Argyle House, Cowdenbeath

Argyle House is a spacious single storey, 6 bedded unit which provides a high standard of accommodation for adults with a learning disability.

Staff promote independence, respect and dignity as well as equality. The staff working in Bute House have completed various training programmes including, CALM, Dementia Awareness, Learning Disability awareness and Epilepsy training along with many more to ensure they can provide and encourage residents to lead a full and happy lifestyle. This multi task unit creates a family atmosphere and allows residents to enjoy a friendly and comfortable dwelling in a safe and secure environment.

Care Home Manager – Mandy Ross

I have worked in the care sector since leaving school. I gained a level 3 certificate in health and social care and trainer and assessor award prior to commencing employment with Abbotsford. I began working for Abbotsford in 2000, throughout this time I have worked in many different roles and I am currently the manager of Abbotsford Cowdenbeath.

I hold my leadership and management award in level 4 social care. I have a focus within my role were I offer nutritional advice and training to all staff within Abbotsford.

Assistant Care Manager – Heather Ross

I came to work with Abbotsford in 2008 after completing College where I studied Social Care. Throughout my employment with Abbotsford I have worked in all three of the units on Cowdenbeath site. I came to work at Abbotsford as a Care Assistant in our Main Unit in Cowdenbeath which specialises in elderly and dementia care. I then worked in Bute House our Nursing Care unit for people with learning disabilities before settling in Argyle house our residential unit for people with learning disabilities.

In this time I have been able to develop my skills and knowledge and have achieved my SVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and will soon commence my Level 4 training. I have also completed various other training and courses relevant to the needs of the residents that I support. I was thrilled to become Assistant Care Manager in June 2014. I value the importance of this role and work daily to support The Care Manager, Fellow Colleagues and of course the residents and their relatives. My career with Abbotsford has been extremely rewarding and I am motivated towards supporting all of the staff here at Abbotsford in Cowdenbeath to strive to achieve and deliver the best quality of care possible to the residents that we help to support. I am currently working towards my SVQ level 4 in social care.
